Disneyland with Dad
In honor of Father’s Day being tomorrow I decided to talk about my last trip to Disneyland which was with my Dad. Bear with me a bit as this trip was 2 years ago, so my memory might be a bit foggy, but it was a very fun trip with my Dad.
We flew down to LA for a football game, Seattle Seahawks vs the LA Rams. We have always been big Seahawks fans; my Dad and brother have even been to 2 of the 3 Super Bowls they were in. The game was at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. It was the typical hot sunny LA weather and the stadium had no cover for the seats, so we both ended up sunburnt by the end of the game even with sunscreen. It was a good game to watch though as we did win the game.
We then stayed down in LA for a couple more days to spend some time at Disneyland. We got to see how they changed Tower of Terror to be Guardians of the Galaxy. The ride was still fun, but I have to say I missed the atmosphere and story of Tower of Terror.
As this trip was during October, Disneyland and some of its rides were all decked out in Halloween decorations. One of the days the sky even turned orange from some wildfires a few miles away. Disney does a great job of creating a non-creepy Halloween atmosphere, granted Disney has always been excellent at creating atmosphere.
We had a lot of fun on the modified Space Mountain. They add ghosts and demons to the space you ride through and call it Ghost Galaxy. I highly recommend going on it if you have the opportunity.
But even better for Halloween time is how they deck out Haunted Mansion with ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’. They keep Haunted Mansion’s decorations up through Christmas time as well. The amount of effort that must go into the transformation is impressive.
Aside from all the Halloween festivities we also went on Splash Mountain several times. It has always been one of my 2 favorite rides in the park and it is also one of my Dad’s favorites. Even when I was working at Disneyland, if I visited the park, I would always get at least one ride on it in even if I didn’t go on a single other ride the entire time I was in the park.
My Dad and I had a blast on this trip, football for him and Disneyland for me. I find it best on trips with other people to try and do something for everyone, even if they like everything on the trip itinerary, always make sure you take other’s likes and wishes into account when planning a trip with people. After all my Dad does enjoy Disneyland (who doesn’t) but he loves football.
